A Contra-indication is when a modality or therapy used for massage can have an adverse reaction on the body and possibly cause harm to the client.

Total: is when a massage should never be considered
- Fever
- Contagious diseases, Viruses Colds & Flu
- Non/Prescription drugs or alcohol or Under the Influence
- Acute injuries
- Skin diseases
- Recent Surgeries

Local: is when the therapist can massage but not over any areas affected by:
- Varicose veins
- Arthritic
- Undiagnosed Bumps
- Pregnancy /Prenatal
- Bruising
- Cuts & Stiches
- Abrasions
- Sunburn
- Inflammation

Medical: is when a massage can only take place once it has been approved in writing by your Physician if you suffer from any of the following conditions:
- Cardio-vascular conditions: Thrombosis, Hypertension Phlebtis or heart conditions
- Recent Surgeries
- Conditions under medical practitioner care
- Edema
- Psoriasis or Eczema
- High blood pressure
- Osteoporosis
- Cancer
- Nervous or Physical or Mental Conditions
- Heart problems, Angina or Clients with pacemakers
- Epilepsy
- Diabetes
- Bell’s Palsy
- Hospice Care
